Born in Castlereagh Northern Ireland. Neil Wilson has become a local legend. Winner twice of the Belfast Telegraph Young Sportsperson of the Year, he became the first ever skater from Northern Ireland to win a British Championship title and won all four Novice, Primary, Junior (twice) and finally the prestigious British Senior Mens Championship title in 1997 when he defeated 7 times British Champion Steven Cousins. Since then Neil has won the coveted title twice more and been runner-up three times. The same year (1997), Neil came 6th in the World Junior Championships a record still to be bettered by a British skater! Neil has represented GB many times at European and World level coming a fantastic 12th place at the 2003 Europeans the highest place by a British Skater since Steven Cousins. At one time Neil became the first ever skater to hold the Guiness World Record for the fastest spins which had not been broken for over 35 years... Living in Canada for the past few years, Neil retired from the world competitive stage in 2004 and now coaches there.. |
Born in Wales Matthew Davies is the second most successful skater only to Neil Wilson to hail from Northern Ireland. He became the first ever skater from Northern Ireland to win a Welsh Junior Championship title and proceeded to win all four British Championship titles over the years Novice, Primary, Junior (twice) and finally the prestigious British Senior Mens Championship title (twice). The second time in 2004 he defeated Neil Wilson and earned his place to represent GB once more at the World Senior Championships. Matthew has also represented GB at the European Senior Mens, the World Junior Championships and won a Bronze Medal at Chemnitz when still only 18yrs. This was GB's first senior International medal since Robin Cousins won the Olympic Games! Over the years Matthew has also skated for GB at the European Championships where he qualified for the final 24. In 2004 Matthew finally retired and is now completing his studies at College/University. |

A former British Primary & Junior Ladies Champion and currently Northern Ireland's only Professional Ice Skater Vicki Hutchinson has become one of Northern Ireland's leading ladies of the ice. Born in Bangor NI Vicki rose to fame very quickly and was on the British Olympic Squad for three years, she was also the first ever female skater from Northern Ireland to medal in a Senior Ladies National Series event and a USA Open event. After training in USA for two years Vicki auditioned for the world famous Disney on Ice within months she was understudy to most of the major parts and touring the World! This season she has received news that she is to take a prinicpal role for the first time in Disney on Ice's of production 'Pinnochio'. |
